Pitoruokia-Feast serving

Lupescun perheenkin jouluinen pöytäkin on saatu katettua parahiksi kahvitarjoilun jälkeen. Lautaset kukin hakee keittiöstä tarpeen mukaan, ja ruokailu talossa suoritetaan ikäänkuin seisovasta pöydästä. Varsinaista yhteisruokailutilaisuutta ei siis ole, se kun voisi olla yksinäistä tietyille perheenjäsenille, kuten Evanille. Tuskin Verakaan kasvissyöjänä tuntisi oloaan kovin mieluisaksi muun perheen jäystäessä kinkkua ympärillä.

The festive setting of the family is placed in the dining-room after coffee. There's a smorgasbord-type solution is good, and anyone who's hungry can just get a plate from kitchen and grab a bite as pleased. So the Lupescus' won't gather together around the table on christmas to have a family-dinner, since it could be frustrating and lonely for some family-members, like Evan. And I don't think Vera as a vegetarian would feel that cozy either if the rest of the family is chewing ham around her in the christmas-table.

Paistia, ostereita, käristemakkaraa (joo, ei ehkä niin jouluinen räätti, mutta Pertti vannoo niiden nimeen), leipää, maitoa, punaviiniä ja viskiä, jolla voi vaikka terästää jouluisen kanelikahvin ;)

Close-up of the table:
Roast, oysters, fried sausages (not so much of a holiday-dish, I know, but Pertti loves 'em), breaad, milk, red wine, and whiskey, with you can spice up your cinnamon-coffee when needed ;)

Sivupöydällä kaikenlaisia lisukkeita:
Vihreitä papuja, yrttijuustoa, kanttarellisalaattia, suolaa & pippuria, sinappia, tabascoa ja balsamicoa.

On the smaller desk there's some side-dishes:
Green beans, herb-cheese, chanterelle-salad, salt & pepper, mustard, tabasco, and balsamico.

On joulu, ja yölläkin saa syödä, sanottiin ennenvanhaan. Perinteisesti jouluruoat on jätetty yöksi pöytään, jotta kotitonttu sai halutessaan käydä siitä napsimassa jouluherkkuja. Siksi talossakin ruoka katetaan pöytään koko päiväksi -ja yöksi.

Tosin Lupescun perheen tapauksessa voidaan vain arvailla, millaiset otukset siellä käyvät yöllä joulupöydästä maistelemassa..

It's Solstice, and you can eat all night long, people used to say at the old days. Traditionaly the feast is left to a table over night, so the household elf could eatb some treats too. That's why in the Lupescu house the food is on the table the whole day -and night.
All though, since it's the Lupescu family we're talking about here, we can just guess what kinda critters come out by night and feast..
